Probably won't keep this up, I never do stick with a new project for very long. Story of my life. But Maybe I will, tune in and see=p
Guess I will start this by talking about the last 13 days since I am starting this two weeks into 2011. This year follows a pretty good year. 2010, while shitty for most people, the country and world as a whole, was pretty good to me. I traveled a lot to see friends and family in the Bay Area, Kansas City, Tennessee, Michigan and Hawaii, I learned I would be an uncle x2=p, I met some great people in San Diego, grew closer Luke and Keto, and moved into a great new apartment.
For 2011 I am facing a couple of early challenges. I need to loose 30lbs and get in shape by May for the Navy's spring PRT cycle. If I fail this, I may be kicked out of the navy and the last 12 years will be wasted and I will have to start over in new career. You would think this would be motivation enough to get me exercising and crash dieting, but alas, my capacity for self denial is amazing. Though I have started to tell certain individuals in my life, and hopefully they will help encourage me. I think it can be done, I have done it before, it will just be hard work. Something I don't really excell at.
Another challenge will be the chief's exam, I take the test on the 20th, I am more prepared then I have ever been, studied more then I ever have, and have more experience then I ever have. But I am still aprehensive, my last three attepts at this test have been lackluster and dissapointing, and I am expecting much the same with this one. We will just have to see.
And the third challenge will be to dig myself out of the moderate debt I accumulated at the end of last year with the move, and subsequent holiday season. It isn't much, but it is significant enough that I have to make the effort over the next couple months to pay it off.
The last major challenge will be to come out to my family. I am 30, going on 31 this year, and it is high time my family know who their son, brother, grandchild is. With Don't ask Don't tell being repealled, I no longer have a good excuse not to. So now I have to figure out how I am going to do it. The current plan is to come out via letter to my immediate family after my sister's second son, Brenden, is born in May. That way they have a couple months to process it before I fly home for the Fourth of July. I mean how upset can you get with a new baby in the family=D That is the theory anyway.
Other plans for the year include learning a second language, getting general education college courses knocked out, continuing my weightloss plan up to next November, with a total weightloss of 60lbs of fat. Manage my money better, buy my father's house, work to maintain the most important relationships in my life and let them know how much they mean to me. Help Luke get established and self sufficient, and finally improve my work performance and advance to E7.
It is a new year, and I probably won't keep this up every day, but I will try, and we will see what 2011 holds for me. Thanks for tagging along.
Vinny.
